Who We Are

Connect For Europe is a privately owned SME based in Ireland, founded in 2021. We specialise in communication, dissemination, and public engagement for European projects — supporting cities, regions, and research consortia in shaping a smart, sustainable future.
Our objective is to help European cities and regions improve the quality of life of their citizens through innovative measures in sustainable urban development. We facilitate research and public engagement for place-making, exploring solutions in mobility, health, environment, intelligent systems, and social and economic equity.
We use our in-house expertise to create opportunities for pilot sites to exchange experiences and forge partnerships with industry and research communities. Connect For Europe provides strategic information to decision makers, helping to shape local frameworks for smart, sustainable development.
With longstanding experience in promoting innovation, we have supported EU projects and local initiatives by ensuring effective dissemination of results, running focus groups, seminars, and workshops, and coordinating end-user groups in sustainable urban projects.
Simon Hughes-King
Founder, Producer & Strategic Lead

Simon Hughes-King is a highly accomplished freelance Producer and Production Manager with over two decades of experience in broadcast and digital media.
Based in Limerick, Ireland, and shaped by a formative career at the BBC, Simon has led media production across the UK and Ireland. Since 2020, he has specialised in short-form documentary, corporate video, hybrid events, and live-streamed productions — helping organisations articulate their message with clarity and authenticity.
Simon brings a structured, outcomes-driven approach to every project, combining journalistic integrity, technical fluency, and a deep focus on storytelling. He supports media and content producers in shaping meaningful, audience-centric narratives, while ensuring professionalism across all stages of the workflow — from scripting to delivery.
His work spans national conferences, academic institutions, and EU project communications, where he is known for bringing discipline, focus, and purpose to complex productions.
“I spent 13 years at the BBC, beginning as a Studio Manager producing live radio in 44 languages, before moving into training correspondents and contributors to create their own material — both technically and editorially — with an emphasis on narrative creation and telling stories that resonate with the public. I have worked with marginalised groups and vulnerable communities worldwide, facilitating transnational exchange, and more recently in Ireland, I have focused on socialising smart technology concepts with diverse stakeholders across academia, local government, citizens, and industry partners.”
